Cannot find a WPS button? Here’s how to set up your Linksys extender

Alternative ways to set up your Linksys Extender

The first thing to know is, there’s not just a single way you can set your Linksys extender up but many. Here is one of those many ways you can exploit and get things up and running.

Using the Extender.Linksys.Com web address

In order to use the default web address i.e. extender.linksys.com, you’ll need to connect to the local device network. And to connect to it, you’ll first need to connect the devices.

Here’s how you can:

  • Connect your Linksys extender to the main router using an ethernet cable.
  • Now, you can either connect to the range extender using another ethernet cable or connect your computer system to it wirelessly.
  • Once done, go to the network settings on your system and locate the Linksys extender SSID. Once you see it, click on it to connect to it.
  • Next, open a web browser of your choice and type extender.linksys.com in the web address bar. Press Enter and you’ll be directed to the Linksys extender setup page.
  • Here, in the username and the password section, you can type in the credentials you see on the product label on the reverse side of your networking device.
  • Once you do, press the Login button. You’ll now reach the main/ homepage of the Linksys extender setup page.
  • Here, navigate to the wireless settings and click on the “Basic Wireless Settings.”
  • Checkmark the radio button next to the “Manual” tag and enter the details for your router network name in the fields next to the SSID.
  • In the Wireless Security section, select the settings that match your main router settings. Now, type the security key and click on the Save Settings button.
  • Once you have the settings saved, power cycle your devices.
  • You might need to reconnect your devices to the new extender network.
  • This step concludes the Linksys extender setup process.

Tip: If you find the web address extender.linksys.com not working, you can use the default IP address i.e. 192.168.1.1.

You can also try restarting your devices, if you are unable to locate the extender SSID.
